Training Topics
Fire Extinguisher & Fire Warden Training equips your workforce with the knowledge and practical skills to respond confidently during the critical first moments of a workplace emergency.
Through nationally recognised training, participants learn how to
- recognise different classes of fire;
- select the correct extinguisher;
- use extinguishers safely and effectively;
- understand when not to fight a fire and to evacuate instead; and
- respond confidently during an emergency.

Face to face
There are no pre-reading requirements. All content is covered in class as part of the training.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Course Pre-Requisite
No formal pre-requisite requirements apply.
Age Requirements
Students must be 16 years of age or older. Participants under 18 years of age will be required to provide parental consent to attend training.
Fitness Requirements
Given the nature of the practical assessment, students must be fit and able to squat, bend over and perform chest compression on a CPR manikin on the floor.
Reasonable adjustment may be applicable on a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions about the practical assessment or the fitness requirements, please give us a call 1300 001 201.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Sound reading and writing skills required to undertake the written assessment. Reasonable adjustment may be applicable on a case-by-case basis. Please get in contact with us if you have any questions regarding the minimum LLN requirements.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Students attending this course require a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have a USI, you will need to get one from the USI Website: https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-usi

Suitable Clothing
Please arrive in suitable clothing (enclosed footwear mandatory, long sleeve shirts and long pants are recommended)

Can you deliver Fire Extinguisher & Fire Warden training together?
Yes, we can customise the training delivery to each client’s needs and can deliver a training course that includes a combination of any of the following units of competency:
- PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
- PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation
- PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in a facility

How often should I complete Fire Safety training?
Fire Extinguisher or Fire Warden competency does not formally have an expiry date.
However, it is best practice to refresh your training every 12 months (or in line with your workplace procedures).
How often do you deliver Fire Safety courses?
Fire Extinguisher courses are currently scheduled upon request only.

Can you provide Fire Safety training within our workplace?
Yes! We can definitely deliver workplace training. Please give us a call at 1300 001 201 to discuss your training needs further and receive a quote for on-site training.
Do you take large group bookings?
Our standard student to trainer ratio allows for max 10-12 students per class.
For on-site training, we may be able to deliver training to larger groups; however, that is dependent on the type of training being delivered and the size of the available facilities.
