NATIONAL RECOGNITION

COURSE DETAILS
Our tower rescue course covers the mandatory skills and knowledge required to perform tower rescue from an ESI tower and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
Mandatory pre-requisite:
Students enrolling into this unit must hold current competency in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
COURSE CONTENT
The following subjects will be covered as part of the training:
Prepare to perform tower rescue
- Workplace requirements for the rescue are identified and confirmed
- Rescue equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE) is obtained, inspected and positioned in accordance with workplace requirements
Carry out tower rescue
- Situation is assessed, and rescue response is activated in accordance with workplace requirements
- Tower is accessed in accordance with workplace requirements
- Rescue equipment is attached in accordance with workplace requirements
- Rescue equipment is used to rescue casualty in accordance with workplace requirements
Complete the performance of the tower rescue procedure
- Casualty is assessed in accordance with workplace requirements
- Incident site is secured and entry controlled in accordance with workplace requirements
- Incident is reported in accordance with workplace requirements
DURATION
1 half-day course (approximately 5 hours)
DELIVERY MODE
Face to face
There are no pre-reading requirements. All content is covered in class as part of the training.
ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
Students will be required to complete a written theory assessment as well as a practical demonstration assessment.
Theory Assessment
Mixture of multiple choice and short answer questions. Student will be required to write down their own answers.
For students with learning disabilities or lack of English proficiency, reasonable adjustment may be applicable on a case-by-case basis. Please give us a call on 1300 001 201 to discuss your specific learning needs.
Practical Assessment
Each student will be required to participate in at least one practical scenario which will inclue:
- identifying organisational rescue requirements
- identifying hazards, assessing risks and applying control measures
- confirming voltage(s) and related safe approach distance(s)
- obtaining, inspecting and positioning rescue equipment
- fitting of rescue personal protective equipment (PPE)
- obtaining, inspecting and using PPE
- performing tower rescue in accordance with workplace requirements
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Course Pre-Requisite
Students enrolling into this unit must hold current competency in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Age Requirements
Students must be 16 years of age or older. Participants under 18 years of age will be required to provide parental consent to attend training.
Fitness Requirements
Students must be relatively fit and able to perform the activities outlined in the Assessment Requirements in order to be accurately assessed and deemed competent.
Given the nature of the practical assessment, students must be at a minimum fit to climb and crawl, and not have a fear of heights.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Sound reading and writing skills required to undertake the written assessment. Reasonable adjustment may be applicable on a case-by-case basis. Please get in contact with us if you have any questions regarding the minimum LLN requirements.

Suitable Clothing
Please arrive in suitable clothing (enclosed footwear mandatory, long sleeve shirts and long pants are recommended)
FAQ & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Can you deliver CPR & tower rescue together?
Yes, we can customise the training delivery to each client’s needs and can definitely include HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and UETDRMP020 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel into one full-day course (approximately 8 hours).

How often should I complete tower rescue training?
Tower rescue competency does not formally have an expiry date.
However, it is best practice to refresh your training every 12 months (or in line with your workplace procedures).
The “refresher” training is also a half-day course.

Can you provide tower rescue training within our workplace?
Yes! We can definitely deliver workplace training. Please give us a call at 1300 001 201 to discuss your training needs further and receive a quote for on-site training.
Do you take large group bookings for tower rescue training?
Currently, any courses delivered at our training facilities are capped at 10-12 students per class.
For on-site training, we may be able to deliver training to larger groups; however, that is dependent on the type of training being delivered and the size of the available facilities.
