Course Overview
The Certificate IV in Emergency Response Coordination is designed for individuals in the Resources and Infrastructure industries with current knowledge and experience in emergency response and rescue who are looking to advance their skill set within incident coordination and emergency response management. Ideal candidates for this course include Captains and Team Leaders of ER teams, ER Coordinators or Supervisors. This qualification reflects the role of ERT leaders who operate in a wide variety of contexts, which involve application of discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.
This qualification will focus of the following key concepts essential for effective incident management:
- Leadership and team motivation
- Emergency management planning
- Coordination of incident response
- Application of emergency response systems
DURATION
5 Days in classroom
Additional time required for independent study and assessments.
DELIVERY MODE
Face to face training delivery (5 days)
Mix of individual and group classroom activities, including computer use.

Competency in HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid must be submitted for credit transfer
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a Certificate nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework
RII41319 Certificate IV in Emergency Response Coordination
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Course Pre-Requisite
Due to the advanced nature of this Certificate, learners must hold a certain level of knowledge and prior experience in order to be successful in the training.
CORE UNIT REQUIREMENT:
Students enrolling into this qualification must provide evidence of currency in HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid. This unit is a core unit requirement of RII41319 and it will be credit transferred to meet the full Qualification requirements and being able to issue the Qualification Certificate.
REQUIRED PRIOR TRAINING:
RII30719 Certificate III in Emergency Response And Rescue (or evidence of proven skills and knowledge of emergency response and rescue)
RECOMMENDED INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Experience working as part of an emergency response team
Fitness Requirements
Students must be relatively fit and able to perform the activities which make part of the Assessment Requirements in order to be accurately assessed and deemed competent. Given the nature of the practical assessment, students must be at a minimum fit to climb and crawl, and not have a fear of heights or confined spaces.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
